A Day at Deana Rose

Deana Rose is a place that has many farm animals that you can pet and feed. They have numerous play areas for the kids and plenty of fun activites for them to do. The best part is that it is free for everyone. There are a few things inside that cost like a pony ride or a hay ride but all of the other things are free. We had such a good time. It is only about 15 minutes from us.
I was really shocked when Bella was petting the goats and feeding them. She has been going through this stage of not liking to get close to other creatures. She was so much fun!
This is Bella's "friend" Colter. An arranged marriage is already set up for the two of them. We went with my friend Jennifer, Colter and her daughter Alex. It was a great time with them!!

Mother's Day

Me and my girls. I was so proud that day to be a mom of these 2 beautiful girls! I am very blessed!

Emmerson was dedicated at church so that made it extra special. I was also asked to sing and the video shows that. It was such a beautiful song and I wanted my girls up there with me. Isabella was so cute but she kept distracting me and so I lost my words a few times. I know nobody cared because most were crying and laughing at the same time. It was such a special moment for me. Hope you enjoy!

Our first zoo trip of the season!

Bella eating her strawberries. She has always got to be snacking on something.
We were not sure how she would react to the sea lions getting right up to her but she loved it. They did it a few times and barked and she loved it.
They have these kangaroos there and we have never seen them come this close to the path. A couple of them were very close. They are normally up in the field sleeping in the sun. It was really cool.
Emmy slept most of the time in the B' jorn but when she woke up she was a happy girl.
We can't wait to go back. We bought a pass this year so we will be going as much as we can as long as the weather stays nice and not too hot.

The "joys" of living in the midwest!

Our weatherman Bryan Busby!

(I got this picture on-line)

Ok.... so tonight a storm rumbled through and it wasn't just any storm. It was a severe thunderstorm that produced baseball size hail and tornadoes. We were watching the news and all of the sudden we heard our tornado sirens go off. "Are you serious?? We have to go down to the basement??" So we got the kids and made sure we had their pacifiers and blankies and off we went. Thank goodness most of the basement is finished with a t.v. Wait! We have sattelite!! It went out so we listened to the radio. Finally the t.v. came back on and we were able to watch the storm blow through. The tornado did not touch down; there was just "rotation" in the sky. The storm headed right towards my parents house and there was actually a tornado that touched down right before it hit my parents town. We are all safe and all is quiet now.

Ever since we (me, my parents and sister) moved here to the midwest (13 years ago), I have hated storms. Some people love them and I think they are crazy! I grew up with earthquakes and I would much rather be in an earthquake than a tornado eventhough you don't get a warning with earthquakes. Anyway, I just had to share our experience. It was very scary and I am so glad it's all over....until the next storm comes!

A good mommy....

I was sitting on the couch nursing Emmerson and Isabella was sitting in her pink chair with her baby. I looked over at her and she was talking to her baby saying, "here, let's go on this side." She then proceeded to put her baby up to her right little boobie and feed her baby. I just smiled and giggled quietly so she wouldn't hear me. When she was "done" she came over to me and took my nursing pad and said, "This is for Bella's boobie", and then walked away.
I knew this would happen at some point and it was hilarious just as I imagined. Just another mommy taking care of her little baby!!

our day...

We went to a place called Tunnel Voyage. We went to the park but it was way too windy for Emmy. So this is where we ended up. Bella had a lot of fun going down the slide, playing in the balls, going down the slide and going down the slide!

Emmy just hung out with Me-ma except to eat. There was alot for her to look at. Her eyes were all over the place. She is a very inquisitive little girl just like her sister was.

I had to throw this picture in because when she makes this face, the sound that comes out is absolutely adorable. It is very pitiful; both the look and the sound. I wish you could hear it. Maybe I can get it recorded one day.

OK.....this is a huge thing! Her sucking on this me-mo (pacifier) is great. Bella always sucked on those ugly green Soothie one's you get from the hospital. She never would take another pacifier. So I was determined to get Emmy to suck on one of these. The first few weeks she only sucked on the Soothie pacifier and it annoyed me because they don't stay in the mouth very well. Last week I decided to try this pacifier and low and behold, she took it! It took her a little while to want it but now she takes it!! Shirley, I get to use those straps now!! They work great! Yea!!

Daddy and his girls...

I went into Bella's room to put her to bed and this is what I found. One of the sweetest things in a mother's life. Proud daddy and happy kids. It melted my heart.
Emmy is 6 weeks now and really starting to smile and coo back at you when you talk to her. We had her wellness check up today and so that meant shots. It wasn't very fun but she did good. She weighs 11 lbs. which is in the 50th percentile. She has way passed her big sister. Bella has always been in the 10th or below and so this is a big difference for me. I am able to put things on her that Bella never got to wear because it got too warm out. She is a big bundle of joy! We are starting to get a routine going and starting to get the hang of having 2 kids. What an adjustment it has been!!

On Saturday we took Bella's crib out of her room. We had her big girl bed and the crib both in ther room and she always wanted to sleep in her "old bed". So we finally made the decision to take it out because in her little mind she had an option and she always chose the crib. She has been doing alright but now she knows she can get out of bed and play. Today I had to go in there about 8 times to lay her back down. She finally fell asleep and slept for almost 3 hours. What a big girl!!

Feet???

Isabella:

"Patty cake, patty cake baker's man. Bake me a cake as fast as you can. Roll it, pat it, mark it with FEET, put it in the oven for Emmy and me."

"This little piggy went to the market, this little piggy stayed home, this little piggy had roast FEET, this little piggy had none....and this little piggy said wee wee wee, all the way home!"

Bella's favorite song...

When you become a parent, the thing you want your kids to know most is that mommy and daddy loves them and most importantly that Jesus loves them. I have sung "Jesus Loves Me" to Bella since the day we brought her home and now she goes around singing to her babies, Elmo, Sluggerrr and even K.C. She sings the whole thing but I can never get it all on tape but here is a little clip of what she sounds like. It is the sweetest sound to our ears.

The Big Week!

So this is mine and Bella's last week of just being the two of us. We played with playdough this morning and colored. We even played in Emmy's room and now we are getting ready to eat lunch.
It is so weird to think that there will be one more. I am getting a little nervous about the whole process, but I know at the end of it all there will be another beautiful girl to love just as much as I love Isabella. That is hard to believe too. Bella will be a good big sister and I definitely look forward to when we all get adjusted to the change. Please keep us in your prayers!

Isabella is 2!!!

So, my baby girl is 2 today! It is so hard to believe that 2 years have gone by. I think about the last 2 years and I am so thankful God gave me her. I have made mistakes but she is such a sweet litle girl so I know I have done something right. What a blessing it is to be Isabella's mommy!!

Baby Update

I had an U/S and doctor's appointment on Tuesday. Emmerson looked great. She weighs between 6 -7 lbs. Mind you, Bella was 6 lbs. 5 oz. when she was born and we still have 3 weeks until inducement day! The main thing was that her heart was strong and she looks beautiful. I was unable to see my doctor because she was out on a delivery so I saw the nurse lady who is as close to being a doctor as you can get without being one. She checked everything over and was asking me about Braxton Hicks and I mentioned to her that I had them all day on Sunday from morning to night. So she went ahead and checked me and said that I was getting close to a 1. So now I know things are progressing.
Today, oh today, we almost made a trip to the hospital because of contractions. I was nervous because we are still technically 5 weeks out on the actual due date. So I decided to call the doctor but the office was closed until noon due to weather conditions. So we thought we would go ahead and drive to Lee's Summit since it is 30 minutes away and would probably take us double the time since the roads were so bad. When Sheldon got home and got a bag packed and I got a bag packed for Bela, they conveniently stopped and I haven't had them since. I was thankful on one hand because I am not ready to bring this baby home but on the other hand, I want her out!! So we will see what happens the next 3 weeks. I hope I go before I have to be induced because labor won't be as intense but the thought of not knowing when it could happen frightens me a bit. Anyway, baby is still in my belly and active as can be.
The same day I had a doctors appointment, I took Bella to the doctor and she has an ear infection. We just cannot stay healthy. There is so much going around that it is nearly impossible to avoid. I did get some medicine from the nurse, so hopefully that will get rid of my almost 5 week cough. Ahhhh! Will things ever be calm anymore??? I am guessing no. I just need to take that deep breath whenever I get a chance. Breathe in aaannnnnddddd breathe out. Ahhhh, much better!

Been a while...

OK....so I have been really bad the last few weeks about updating our blog. Between Bella and I being sick, to Shirley coming to visit and not to mention being 8 months pregnant, this has been the last thing on my mind. When Bella is sleeping, I am sleeping because I am exausted and I know that in 4 weeks I might not be able to take that nap like I would like. So, here is a quick update.

Isabella's vocabulary is becoming more and more adult like. The other day we were at JCPenney's and we were looking at baby clothes. She grabbed something and said, "Mommy, this adorable. It's cute." It was very sweet. I guess maybe she hears that alot. Her new word is "we-ever", interpreted- WHATEVER! She likes to tease and and say something is "pink when it's really blue". So I got to the point where I would say, "whatever, it's pink" or "whatever you say". Now she will say:

B- "Mommy it's pink"

M- "No Bella, that's blue."

B- "We-ever, it's pink."

It's amazing the things they choose to repeat back. She is sooo much fun right now but we have also been dealing with the attitude of a 2 year old. We are in that stage of life in full force. I have really been learning how to pick my battles because if I didn't, I would be telling her no or sending her to timeout all day. It is challenging at times especially when I am not feeling my best. We are planning her little birthday party. The theme is going to be Elmo because she LOVES Elmo. I just can't believe she is going to be 2! It goes by too fast!! Growing up and even now I have always heard how we are here on earth only for a fraction of time because we will be in Heaven for an eternity. Having kids really puts that into perspective for me because it goes by so fast and they are grown before you know it. It makes me want to cherish each moment and makes me feel guilty when I don't.

Turning 30 also put that into perspective for me. Yes, 30!! I always thought it was sooo old. Now that I am here, I am excited to be 30. I have learned a lot in my twenties and am sort of glad those years are over. I look forward to my 30's. We had a big fiesta at our new house. A lot of friends and family had not seen our new home so we had a Birthday Party/ Housewarming Party. There were between 50-60 people here including a lot of little one's. It was fun but it will be a while before something like that takes place in our house again.

I am trying to get things done before Emmerson gets here. We are slowly getting a few things that we will need. (Jill~ I will be ordering her Allyzabba soon!!) http://www.allyzabba.com/ Thanks to Shirley, I have new, pretty burpcloths, a Rock-A-Bye and few other things. http://www.ribbonandsoul.com/ It's fun geting new things but we have so many things from Bella that we do not need to get. The most important thing being clothing. Thank goodness they are 2 years and 10 days apart. That is saving us a lot of money!

Anyway, not much else going on. I will make sure to keep up so I don't have to do this long drawn out blog next time. Until next time......
